I don't get it? Any time a black man is killed and a cop or white person pull the trigger, it is front page news with headlines indicating race of everyone involved. There are riots. There is looting.

Yet when an officer dies and is killed, the race of the suspect is not listed? I read a few articles today regarding this and none of them listed the suspect's race. After seeing an image posted later of the suspect, I could obviously tell he was black.

The cop's were in a lose-lose situation. Defend themselves and shoot the suspect and they lose their job and have a target on their back and get charged with murder. Let the suspect draw first... and well... you all see what happens.

Not a good time to be a cop. The well-being of a violent criminal is more important than that of a cop (doing their job) according to the general public.

Hell, I usually use Yahoo for my news (I know, I know), but this wasn't even front page news? Baltimore was front page with at least 3 articles of the top 5, for weeks!

that kind of info virtually always gets buried, yet when it's the other way around, it IS the story.

The link has been updated to show the suspect, Demetrius Blackwell. He is known on the streets as "Hellraiser".

Because a racial issue is what sells and gets ratings, and if it isn't one already they will try very hard to make it one.

Silence, OP! You are upsetting the delicate racial imbalance that can only be rectified with meaningless deaths of white police officers!

Nobody cares if a white officer is killed because it doesn't get ratings and is not a hot topic issue like race relations in America.

So tragic. RIP good man

How does one with a history of violence get a mere five year prison sentence after a successful conviction for attempted murder, which is about the same amount of time a low level pot dealer never involved with violence could easily face?!

It is time to recognize, separate and get off the streets for long periods of time those violent individuals or anyone using a weapon during an offense from those who are not violent. Incarceration is expensive, it should not be utilized for drug addicts or dealers supporting their habits when resources are scarce.

Not a good time to be a cop. The value of violent criminal's has the support of the general public.

Are you in New York? It was front page news there along with the suspects picture. It is now on Yahoo but just under the story about the naming of Princess Charlotte.

There was a shooting and the suspect was arrested. The police officer died and the charges will be upgraded to murder.

Feel free to riot and loot.

At what point are adults going to stop acting like they don't know what moves the needle? Are you asking for wall-to-wall coverage??

There was another shooting spree today in Wisconsin, that didn't get much press, either.

I don't like it, but I'm not in charge of what gets pushed and talked about.

Write a letter to your local congressman/woman.

Can't wait to see the people posting how little "Hellraiser" was really the victim in this...
