There was another article (online) I read that said there was another train in the area that had gotten hit by 'projectiles' a few minutes before the derailment occurred... That same report didn't say the two were related, but the mayor, in his most recent news conference, said they were NOT related in any way...

God bless those that tragically lost their lives in this horrific accident.
I also heard the train was traveling too fast. Has anyone identified the driver yet?

I'm hearing that they can't yet provide numbers on missing because 1) some people were taken to the hospital without ID; and 2) some people that were uninjured may have just been upset and left without telling authorities. It could be a couple of days before everyone is accounted for.

Nice article on the topic:
The Latest on Amtrak crash: AP analysis shows train speeding

The engineer is refusing to speak. Probably understandable in his case as he likely has jail time in his future.

You know they are going to go over his cell-phone records....see if he was texting etc. or otherwise screwing around.

If it was a terrorist act does anyone think they'd come clean and say so?
According to a train expert I listened to on CNN was saying that there's an automatic system that warns of too high of speed and then will take control and reduce speed if nothing is done.

That statement would leave one to believe there's more to this then anyone is saying right now.

This. Some people couldn't have an original thought if their lives depended on it.

How much Federal infrastructure money would it have taken to keep the engineer from going 100 in a 50?

What I can't figure out is how it got around that first curve, without derailing there. Unless it accelerated more after that curve.
