And the justice system never makes any mistakes and never, ever sends innocent people to jail. Nope, never happens.

And even if prisoners are guilty, unless they've got a life sentence eventually they're going to be released. Then society is going to have to deal with them. Some can't be rehabilitated, but others can become productive, law-abiding citizens. Those people should have the opportunity to better themselves.

See, funny thing about prison solely as punishment. It doesn't work. Prisons used to be even less pleasant. Prisoners were starved, beaten and tortured. People still committed crimes. They actually learned how to commit new crimes while in prison. The only effect was when they were more likely to kill their next victim, just so the person couldn't testify against them.

Life is not fair. Never intended to be. Some of us are much smarter than ours. That is not fair either. People with the mindset to commit crime need to be completely broken.
