So it's bad that Walmart provides jobs and cheaper foods / products to people in economically depressed areas ?

They just opened recently in south Dallas where no one was offering these services and jobs. I would think that's a positive for that low income community.

I also dont see how much of this is walmarts fault.. though I dont care for the store its their right to pay a standard wage for unskilled work. Many who work at walmart are on walfare type assistance. I think because walmart will actually hire them opposed to other places. Yea walmart does things like raise prices, along with every other store. Shop elsewhere then. Walmart is providing a lot of jobs across the state for people, it would be quite a huge economic hit if they ever closed down.

Don't worry, it's not. Any more than any other employer is who, according to that goofy organization, isn't paying a "living wage" of 29 bucks an hour to a single mom [insert obligatory applause here] with one child.

Newsflash: Walmart, or any other employer, is not responsible for people's bad choices. Illegitimacy is the surest route to poverty.

Repeating this "double dipping" rot ad nauseum doesn't make it true.

This is "Forbes" magazine. I would state it is reliable. People can argue up and down about Wal*Mart, but the facts are Wal*Mart often puts mom and pop businesses out of business, and then provides low wages to employees. Wal*Mart can afford to pay their employees better than a substandard wage and maybe benefits.

You know, the nuclear family is outdated, and it's about time society caught up with that. "Forbes" is a reliable source, plus, you perpetuating stereotypes about single mothers doesn't help anything.

By not paying enough from most of its employees to live on Walmart is tapping my pocket to pay welfare to those folks.

Lol. Ok.

I don't want to live in Texas. I'm sure many love it. To each their own. Chicago's fun. Tons of stuff to do.

But back on the issue of the Economy.

Wages are not increasing. Older Americans are holding onto jobs longer and many Young Americans are stuck at the bottom of the wage scale. Prices are rising. Fees, taxes, etc are increasing. Many Americans do not have money to save.

It's a bad cycle for everyone. Not just those without right now. What if you own a business that depends on disposable income? Or wanted to? Or what if you work in an industry that could be affected by the slow economy?

One day in the happy bright future of crumbling America, WalMart will have everything we need, a one-stop SuperShop:

A casket shop/funeral store
A pet cemetery store
A pet grooming store
A birth control/adoption/abortion store
A birthing center
A wedding chapel
A hotel/motel
A drive-in movie theater
A mini-golf course
A casino
A strip club

Won't it be wonderful when we can go there & do EVERYTHING at once!!
