$10 a day is a lot in food for one person. Depends on if you're eating healthy or not. If you do eat out on that $10 a day, it can be done with one really good meal doubtful you'll actually get three square on $10. You'll probably be hungry in the morning though, to where you'll want to throw up but if you do it for a few months your body will adjust. I would recommend leaving the preservatives, additives, and flavor enhancements alone though.
I spend about $200 per month on food, healthy and regular snack foods. I always have enough left over to carry well into the next month. If I had a better appetite, I could probably get away with spending a lot less, but sometimes it just isn't there, and I have to entice myself with healthy and delicious food. There's a lot of cheap stuff that just sits in my pantry because I can't bring myself to eat it if I have better options.

Rice and beans are considered healthy foods, no? Brown rice is less than $1 a pound and beans are less than $1.50 a pound at Walmart, and can provide a good base for a decent enough diet.
10 dollars a day is considered a lot? Thank god none of you live in NY
Food costs are the same if you're eating out no matter where you live at in America.
A person can enjoy one meal on $10 a day. Doesn't matter where they live at in this country. Even convenience stores, though you might get by on a cheap slice of pizza for $1 at a 7 Eleven. But protein is cheap, and you can get by on $10 a day if you want to. I've done it before may not have been the best food choices but it is possible.
