Actually I already buy all my meat without even looking at where it's from so I don't know why I care.

You might care the first time there is an epidemic and they can't trace anything to anywhere.

I'd rather buy meat from other countries that have something called food standards myself. Putting USA on the label is like skull and bones.

Next time you are in the supermarket to walk over to your fresh fish dept.
Look at that fish. If it is not processed (spiced and breaded) then you will see Country of Origin.

You really want to buy catfish "farm raised" from China ?
Fresh shrimp raised in China ?

This is a country that allowed melamine to get into baby formula.
This is a country that allowed toothpaste to be made with anti freeze.
This is a country that exported gluten laced with melamine that killed thousands of pets (kidney failure).

But now you won't know whether your meat came from those countries.

Big Ag probably owns half the members of our government.

Starting with the head of the FDA, Tom Vilsack, who passed pretty much anything Monsanto wanted passed while Governor of Iowa, and has continued to do so as head of the FDA. Heck, Monsanto, Dow and others in BigAg and BigPharma actually write a good chunk of legislation.

Hate to say it, but this is a battle we can't win.

I agree. The pressure and financial threats are coming from outside of the US.
If we don't do it we will suffer financially.

Call it global blackmail if you will.

Don't buy it. Only buy locally sourced food. Consider eating lower on the food chain.
