That's sad. I love turtles and tortoises. The other day Son and I were driving home and spotted a little box turtle crossing the road. We both remarked "was that a turtle?" as we passed it. We continued on until finding a place to turn around and went back to pick it up and place it in the shrubs on the side where he was headed.

I love turtle and tortoises!!! Something so neat about them. I cannot imagine something living 150 years. I think the zoo was awesome to try alternative treatments. It was just this creature's time to go, a neat creature at that!

Think about it. Speed came to the San Diego Zoo in 1933. Speed was born during the administration of Abraham Lincoln and died during Obama's. Only Fidel Castro has outlived that many presidents.

Wow. I wish we as humans could have that long of a lifespan.

Turtles are cool amazing prehistoric like creatures. They make terrible pets. Back when I was a child growing up Staten Island, NY was mostly farm land still and we had so much of everything, and turtlles were one of them. From cute easy going turtles, to angry snapping turtles.

Ten years ago I was on Vacation in Willamsburg Virginia and they had there own 100+ year old turtle. Amazing creatures.

I have always desired to raise a tortoise, but when I researched what was involved, I decided not to.
