One would guess they were able to seperate the cause vs. the weary confederate soldier who was simply fighting for a cause he didn't really understand...as in all wars really.
Or maybe said persons know very little about the Confederate cause. One reason to do some research.
then put the crap on your front lawn and honor them that way. Those poor confederate soldiers died because they were lied to by the slave owning aristocratic leaders of southern states. Slavery cost them jobs, it damaged southern white families economically but they bought the BS and died for it, that is the real tragedy.
I see it the same way. They were being convinced that it was their duty to fight for the South. The truth is, the elites and plantation owners had money interests in this. Their living came at the expense of others. It came with enslaving people. They were willing to protect it at all costs.
Another thing the elites did was divide and conquer. The poor Whites of the South, economically, had more in common with the Black slaves than they did with the plantation owners. They could have banded together and fomented a rebellion against the elites.
I'm sure they fought valiantly. However, they were lied to by elites.
It doesn't matter. The war is over and the south lost. The flag has to come down. The Klan and all the true history nuts can still have there's.
I'm a history nut and a lifelong Southerner, with relatives who fought in the Civil war.
However, flying the Confederate flag is not important to me at all. It has become a symbol of racial hatred and white supremacy. It should not be flown on buildings and grounds paid for by the public.

People are free to fly Confederate flags from their trucks and yards, and wear them for shirts. It's freedom of speech, and no government has said they can't.
That said, like you, I do not think the Confederate flag should be flown on the grounds of buildings paid for by the public. I'm not stopping anyone from flying that flag from their trucks and private property. Keep it out of state property.
Why do you feel like those pictures are proof of or justification of ANYTHING going on right now?
I do not care that someone wants to own such a flag.
I do not care that same someone would want to display such a flag on their own property or vehicle or clothing.
However, it can not be flown over government or public property like a venue or park.
I DO get to decide whether I want to know, do business with or otherwise come in to contact with someone who chooses to display it.
