Wages are up and the employment numbers are seasonally adjusted. Try again.

The labor force participation rate was lower under Eisenhower. Using you logic, he presided over the worst economy of the postwar era.
Your points responded to:
  • Nothing to cherry pick. 93,000,000 working age Americans are not working. 1 in 5 Americans are on foodstamps (highest ever), 1 in 3 Americans depend upon some sort of government assistance. By any measure this economy has tanked. Of course if you are in the 1%, then Obama has done well for you.
  • And those jobs, well paying middle class jobs never came back as they went overseas. They were replaced by minimum wage jobs which are counted equally by the Obama Administration.
  • Wages are up. But when 95,000,000 are not working, there is more money to go around to those who are left. It is you who need to try again.
  • Nope. It was calculated differently when Eisenhower was in office and furthermore, in the late 1950s a single wage earner made enough money to support an entire family.

If you want to see how Unemployment used to be calculated before they simply decided to redefine it to make it look better. Look here. Obama is presiding over an economy with 23% employment.

Obama used to talk about the "Rope a Dope". LOL.

We are not allowed to engage in ad hominem, but some people really should admit to themselves that they do not know what they are talking about and refrain from voting, or even posting.

The unemployment rate is low because workforce participation is the lowest since 1977, and before any of the useful...well...err...the true believers post the canard that it is all due to baby boomers reaching retirement age, a five minute google search will show you that it is not true.

Real unemployment is horrifying. And now that Greece and China are popping, wait for the next recession/depression.

Or just stick your head back in the sand.

A record 93,626,000 Americans 16 or older did not participate in the nationís labor force in June, as the labor force participation rate dropped to 62.6 percent, a 38-year low, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Baby Boomer retirements.

The Obamaphobic right just hates the fact that America is in much better shape today than it was seven years ago.

Don? from one industry man to another! You work in the marine industry (I'm in Florida) and when people are spending money on boats the economy isn't bad! I work in real estate and people are buying here and these aren't O% down foolish buyers either.
Do people seem to forget that when Obama walked into the White House in January of 2009 we were losing 700,000+ jobs a month! We now have a Unemployment rate at 5.3% which is the lowest in 7 years. There is a confidence in the Economy today with stable gas prices, 64 months of positive GDP growth and no WARS!
The Obama haters have to complain about something. Wait until their heads explode when Hillary is elected!
PS: I'm not a Democrat!

Yes...Thank you, Obama.

In a way I kinda hope a Republican does win the next election. It will be fun to see how much he or she improves the world in 4 or 8 short years. (I remember the last few that sat in the Oval Office, and they didn't exactly have us all laughing all the way to the bank)

You GOP butt kissers seem to forget that Obama inherited a royal mess from that shining light of yours, GW !

Thing I don't understand about this whole participation thing/people stop looking for work, is . . .

How can you do that?? Do you move in with family and sleep in their basement. I mean . . . you need to work to eat essentially. Early retirement? You can't stay on unemployment or welfare forever.

So, whats this whole "giving up looking" business all about? I mean its not like working is really an option.
