In new Harper Lee novel Atticus Finch is a virulent, raging and bitter racist

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/07/12...es-legacy.html

Man even poor Atticus has been reduced to a racist in this new world we live in. Is nothing sacred.

The story is not "new" in that it was actually written BEFORE she wrote "To Kill A Mockingbird".

Stop trying to make everything part of the culture wars.

What's the point of using the Spoiler function, but giving readers no indication of what the spoiler is about? Kind of defeats the purpose.

It's helpful to use descriptive thread titles. "To Kill a Mockingbird Prequel" would make a lot more sense than "This is just terrible". At least then people would have a better idea of whether or not they want to click on the spoiler.

Sorry it was a poor attempt at sarcasm.

Yeah, I didn't get sarcasm at all.

Perhaps edit post #1 so that people know what the spoiler is regarding.

Don't give a rip about 'Go Set a Watchman'. Read 'Mockingbird' long ago, thought it was a fine book and didn't notice anything about it that hinted of racism from Atticus, so as far as I'm concerned it is an entirely different book.

Hell with them.
