It is awful the parents didn't take the kid out for a bit to calm her down but the owner did not handle the situation any better.

I do find people that let their kids scream on and on annoying. I used to take mine outside and and calm them before returning. This restaurant owner though looks like she would really could injure a child just to shut them up, this woman will meet her match one of these days.

Parents control your kids, stop being lazy under the guise of teaching them a lesson. Take them outside if they start getting crazy. It always worked with my kids.

Kid less baby boomers, genxers, DINKS. stop being so brash and abrasive about children, we get that everything pisses you off. And your tolerance for anything is very low and you always feel it is your duty to inform parents about their kids behavior... But you never know who you might lose it in front of and what kind of impact it might have on what you really care about.

I agree the parent should have handled it differently by taking her child out of the restaurant to calm down and given the other customers some mercy, but the owner going ballistic directly at the 2 year old was weird.

Someone who enters the restaurant business is going to have to expect dealing with rude adults and kids alike at some point in their career and should have the professionalism to handle those sticky situations with patrons more tactfully when behavior does reach the point where it needs to be gently (at least at first) confronted. As a wise friend told me, it's always easier to escalate a situation (slowly) when you have to than it is to de- escalate a situation after you've tensed things up way too soon.

I'm with the restaurant owner on this one. If you've got a screaming kid, calm him down or take him outside. It's selfish to ruin things for everybody else.

And I say this as someone with a bunch of kids and grandchildren. It's just basic courtesy.

While it's true that people without kids are often critical of those who do, in my experience in observing situations like these I see it is often other parents who are most critical of those who can't or won't control their kids in public places.
