Heck, these days everyone should carry one of these tools because of the knuckleheads who don't take proper care of their precious children. If I ever encounter a child locked in a hot vehicle I will not hesitate to use my escape tool that I carry in my purse.

Abdul-Jabbar has hundreds of items from his memorabilia collection available in the auction, being conducted by Goldin Auctions, with "much of the proceeds" going to his Skyhook Foundation charity to help benefit kids learn about science, technology, engineering and math.

There was apparently not that much urgency as the child was in no distress, and they were trying to avoid breaking a window.
