Oh, wait... "gun control" applies only to those who obey the laws.
This guy from Louisiana was from the ghetto? And he was somebody who obeyed the law?

Some states, yes, but not all. for instance, the NJ State Police issued a report that showed that nearly 90% of guns used to commit crimes in NJ originated in the Carolinas or West Virginia where lax laws allowed easy purchases of guns for transfer/sale to criminals. Making people get licensed (not an insane idea by any stretch) and then making them register anything they buy to their person (again not insane) completely shuts down this illicit trade and takes guns out of criminals hands.

In exchange I am perfectly fine with licensed people to CCW unharassed in all 50 states after they get the proper certification on their license. Legal gun owners with proper training should be able to carry unhindered.

Nope. Last thing we need is a government managed database of all gun owners, sitting on an internet facing server somewhere, waiting to be hacked, at which point the stolen data would be quite useful to criminals looking to steal a new weapon for themselves or their fellow criminals. Not to mention your idea would have zero effect on criminal violence.

Dylann Roof was named the 21 st american mass shooting killer since Obama became a president.
So today we have the 22 nd.

Tragedy happened in Lafayette is awful... I am praying for all Americans who dead in such terrible accidents.

Gun control that Obama is talking about probably won't solve the problem now.
We live in bleak and unstable times when people are loosing the ground and confidence in the future more often... Who is to blame?
Government, globalization, economy?
People are scared and become mentally unstable, they do not have an adequate health care system and enough money for rehab ...
The country needed to be cured from inside and only after that try to change situation with guns.
Otherwise, people will resist and this will entail even more victims.

But I am sure that our generation won't see it anyway.
Liberals and conservatives are the same. The war on guns (liberal issue) has disproportionately effected poor black people even worse than the war on drugs (conservative issue). Racist.

Only if you outlaw files and Dremel tools or anything else used to file off a serial number.

Databases already exist, this would just be a streamlining and central repository. You can already look up gun ownership records in many states and there doesn't seem to be a rash of crime with people stealing guns. Heck, I thought if people knew were armed it would be a deterrent to crime...right?

It might not impact "criminal violence" but it would certainly keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals.

There are countless other ways to register and track the weapons. God forbid we look for compromise solutions instead of pointing out problems.

Unless you buy an 80% receiver and manufacturer it yourself.

Perfectly legal to do so (if you are legally allowed to own a firearm) and you legally do not need a serial number.

That is your problem, you actually think it would.

...but...but...but...but...but...we can't change anything because it might not be 100% perfect and since it's not 100% perfect we should just continue to allow people to buy backpacks full of guns in West Virginia and sell them in Newark. Asking people to get licensed and trained in exchange for CCW in all 50 states...that's nuts...who would want that?

It's cowardice to do nothing here just because there isn't a perfect solution at the moment.
