Or it means you removed it.

I just updated my tablet to Windows 10. Zero problems here. Takes some getting use to, but looks amazing. Love the new login screen. Where you are greeted with some amazing landscape photos.

There's now a tablet mode. Which you can turn on to get the tiles back. Perfect for tablets.

The desktop mode is now perfect for the desktop. There still tiles, but it's located under the start menu.

I KNEW IT! Microsoft trying to screw us over again. Well I'm giving them the finger and will figure out a way to turn off auto update and stick with 7.

Yeah, but that's the weird thing. It was there for several weeks. Then it just disappeared.

Many licenses for Windows can't be upgraded to any other version because they were purchased as a volume license, were promo giveaways or something like that. A computer without the Windows 10 icon could very well be compatible. If you got the previous version for free (not meaning it came with the PC but free otherwise) Microsoft has no incentive to upgrade you, you already got a freebie. Now you'll have to pay or find another way.

It is about making money, not giving away free software.
There's something else going on here. I had the icon for weeks. Then it was suddenly gone. The computer was legally bought through HP. And it's not that old...came loaded with 8.1.

Yep, same thing here. Had the icon for maybe two months, verified it was compatible with my laptop and then today , poof, gone!

Well, if someone asked you to upgrade for free for a while and you ignored them, eventually they will stop asking. How long would you ask someone "hey, do you want this for free?"

Mack, it's just an icon on the desktop.
