My problem with the dentist is his method of hunting and his reason for hunting. First off, he doesn't hunt for food. My friends and family who hunt only hunt for things they eat and if they don't eat their kill, they donate the meat to homeless shelters. This guy hunts just for a trophy. Second, he used bait to lure the lion. Probably shot the lion while it was eating on the bait. That's wrong. Last, he paid $55,000 for the chance to kill a lion. How much is this dentist charging his patients that he has this much cash to throw away for a trophy? I have no problem with people killing bears or lions in self defense or the defense of others. But to kill them just to have a mounted trophy is wrong. If you don't plan on eating your kill, don't kill.

OMG, we are talking about Cecil, the post you responded to actually said the name "Cecil" four times, and your answer talks about trophy hunting in general...get with the program, lol, what are we 50 pages in or something and people still don't know this was not just a random lion we are discussing and that the reason the world is in uproar is actually because of this particular lion?? That THIS particular lion was special and worth hundreds of thousands a year in revenue to the people of Zimbabwe? Yet you persist on believing a rich American can come take it away from them in one fell swoop, and that's okay??

It shouldnt matter which lion he shot. A lion is a lion and no one here has ever heard of this one. You can't say that the lion was so great for tourism when no one outside of the area knew about the lion. The dentist paid his money and the guides told him where he can legally shoot a lion, so he did. Shooting a lion is dumb, but you really can't blame the guy for doing something he paid to do and thought he could do.
Where exactly do "hunters" do that? <bold> Certainly not anywhere I've lived where bear tags are issued yearly by lottery.

Being common doesn't make it right. I know some hunters set up automatic feeders to attract deer to a particular spot until deer season so they can get a quick and easy kill. That's not hunting. That's like going to a children's petting zoo to go "hunting".
A lion got killed and not only that, there was some rich white guy who did it. Heck, when do chances like that come around? The lion king got wacked and we know who did it. Oh boy, what an opportunity, it comes along only once in a lifetime. Last time was when Kennedy drove that girl into the drink and she drown but what the heck, it was only a woman and he was a Kennedy so give the guy a pass. Yeah, this is different, we have a hero Lion and the dirtbag who murdered him.
Wow, can't wait for the trial. What do you mean trial? There isn't going to be a trial, we can do him all by ourselves. We don't need a trial, he is as guilty as anyone has ever been, no trial needed.

Maybe he can be rehabilitated? rehabbed? Are you crazy? Rehab is for murderers, child molesters and rapists. Now these people need and deserve our compassion but this scum of a human being? No way, he should be skinned alive and fed to the lions. No rehab for him, he poached before. What do you think this is, the New York piers where illegals fish without a license for crying out loud? Those people need to feed their families, they don't need a license.
This guy needs to be strung up and shipped off to ISIS to be decapitated. What do you mean he is a dentist and has helped others? Are you insane, who do you think he is "tookie williams" the founder of the Cripes street gang and as such was responsible for the deaths of hundreds and even thousands of people including kids before finally being executed? Please, this guy killed the lion king, no trial for him, kill him now.
Yes, all those things were said about what should happen with the dentist. The very same people who are claiming the holier than thou position.
That is what is sick. People turning into animals which you saw happen right here on this thread. Go back and read through it.
The very people saying they are so right are the ones who said he should be killed, skinned alive, decapitated and worse. Yeah, a fine representation of humanity and they have the nerve to talk about the dentist.
