Ugh ugh ugh. I had hoped if something like this came out that it would be some other sad, unhappy evangelical woman trapped in a loveless marriage. This is so much worse. I have to wonder though, why come out now? Why not when the molestation story broke?
I am Josh's age and watched the early seasons of the Duggars before it was obvious (to me, at least) how exploitative and awful the parents are. In fact, it was the coverage of Josh's courtship and wedding that absolutely turned me off and it was that point that I stopped watching.
However, even back in the early days, there was always something off about Josh. Even in the fan communities, his nickname was "Smugger." Now, of course, the nickname has been adopted by those who dislike the family but it began among the fan community.
I just hate to wonder what more is up the pike with this family's dysfunction. With 18 children, there is more where this came from - especially given that Josh was one of the only children who was raised by actual parents and not an older sibling!
I hope that the treatment is genuine, and not just pray away the sex addiction. Faith can be helpful during treatment, but Josh's problems seem to be very deep.

IMO, if I was this woman I wouldn't of come out when the first scandal broke because of the way so many in the public and media defended them and that it got really ugly with mudslinging. I wouldn't of come forward for that mess. But this, yea I can understand why she came forward.
Oh my gosh, he really WAS unfaithful. When he originally confessed that he was unfaithful, I interpreted that as looking at porn being unfaithful. Well this just blows my mind. He went after the best of the best, such as it were...he did a lot of research and travel to find this porn star.

His original statement was edited twice. The third version has no reference to pornography whatsoever. It simply reads:

I reckon he knocked back a few after realizing he was busted and then posted that statement all by himself and full of Dutch courage. I don't believe his original statement would have been ever have been sanctioned by the family. They got hold of it and edited it, but the damage was done. Actually that original statement might be the most honest he's ever been.
But this treatment will be a farce. He's way beyond being saved by Jesus, if he was ever a candidate the first time. He'll never ever take responsibility if given the opportunity to blame the good ole devil for his sins.

Gotta love the rule that says "Talking about old habits or lifestyles is against God's word and is not permitted." Yep, stick your head in the sand, don't tackle your issues head on, just pray the problem away.
