Once upon a time the girl would have given the boy a slap in the face. She would have determined how hard a slap. Then it was over. There would be no police, no detention, probably not even a comment from the teacher, but perhaps a smile if the teacher were a member of the fair sex.

We once lived in a rational society.

Remember when living beings had a sex and words had a gender?

Well, my girls will be black belts in karate by the time they hit middle school, so any would-be attackers will get a little more than a face slap from them, in addition to the legal charges.

If you don't think that's "rational" then teach your kids that it is NOT okay to touch others without their permission, especially sexually, and we won't any problem.

Or perhaps some of us of the "fairer sex" have learned not to answer assault with assault?

I don't necessarily believe the police need to be involved, but as a parent I would have definitely been paying a visit to the boy's parents and I would expect the school to discipline him as well.

Who decides who get charged in any case? Some tax-paid government employees. The lives of the citizens are being controlled by a few so-called public servants. It's ironic that the taxpayers who keep these people employed don't have a say in how the system should work.

No man or boy has the right to kiss a girl or woman without her consent. There's nothing funny or cute about it.
I agree but it does not rise to the level of charging a young teen with assault. That is like the idiot over in North Korea that executed one of his generals with a mortar.

Most likely the parents. Since no public servant witnessed to event, a private entity would have to press charges. Most school systems have guidance that schools only press charges against students if their own property has been damaged, the parents would be the ones to press charges. Schools don't even press charges if their employees have been injured by a student, the employee must be the one to do it.

Then you might also want to be prepared for your daughter to also be charged with assault. If your daughter used her black belt skills on my son and you also pressed charges against my son I would press charges against your daughter. They would both be in trouble. You are allowed to physically defend yourself, you aren't allowed to retaliate. A parent may accept that their son deserved the beating as a little old time justice but not if you are also going to bring the new overzealous juvenile legal system down on them also. One or the other, not both.

A 13 year old boy chasing and kissing a 14 year old girl is NOT assault. It sounds more like detention to me. I find it disgusting how some think its ok to ruin this young mans life over something like this. There is a war on young men these days, they go to jail when they are 18 with 16 year old girlfriends, they are child pornographers when some little girl gives them inappropriate pictures of themselves and they are rapists when some little girl points a finger. I am tired of people thinking this is ok. I am not supporting any of the behavior I just listed, but the general immorality of our youth is bringing about this kind of behavior. However for this bad behavior we are choosing to throw the book at young men and the little girl is always innocent, or a victim. Feminist groups are working overtime to make sure it stays that way. How on earth can anyone think a 13 year old boy is a criminal for kissing a 14 year old girl?? Good grief

Yet everyone knows if the roles were reversed all the women certainly wouldn't be saying the girl should be arrested and charged with assault. You think to many mothers would freak out if their 13 year old son came back saying some 14 year old girl grabbed him and kissed him? I think not.
