I'm surprised they'd actually get fired over something like that.

It sounds a bit far fetched, doesn't it? It does sound like the company is investigating and fighting this, as they should.

Yeah, the more I think about it.....smells fake. Tell me what corporation\bank etc. is going to fire an employee embroiled in an unsettled case involving claims of racial discrimination.

This will likely never get to trial. The insurance company will cover a settlement. That is the purpose of lawsuits like these, to push for a settlement, not to actually go to court. These women won't get the $11 million they are asking for but they might well end up with say....$250k a person, far more than sufficient to cover their losses. Eitherway it will be done confidentially.

They claim that the publicity of the event resulted in their employment being terminated.

I could be misinformed/misunderstanding the situation.

Interesting case.
The company employee wrote a response After the group alleged discrimination on Facebook. iirc, the response claimed the group used some nasty language, were told several times to lower the decibel level, and acted as though they were in a bar. Whether that account was true or not, it was quickly removed, and the company went into groveling mode.
