Yes. He should not lose his job. It should not be ones employer who punished them for personal off the job actions due to social pressure. If their actions are against our laws and code of conduct legal avenues should be pursued.
Of course in this case I think the woman could have a legitimate case to bring action against her co-workers for creating a hostile work environment.

I see this to be analogous to anyone ever making any verbal or written negative remark, historical references or any type of negative stereotype relating to any gender, sexual orientation, religion, race, culture, physical or mental aliment or physical characteristic of any other human being.

I think this mother has every right to be angry and pursue any legal avenues for use of her sons pictures. I think these people were out of line but legally they were probably within their first amendment rights.

What I know is people are fallible, people are ugly, they are mean, they are racist, the are arse holes. I'm sure this mocking of everything conceivable goes on everyday.

What I don't agree with is people losing their jobs over something they said or how they legally expressed themselves in their private lives. I may not agree with some peoples attitudes, lifestyles or words but if we as individuals want to be free to live as we choose and express ourselves we also have to accept those things that we find disagreeable in others. All this cowering to PC backlash is creating an atmosphere of censorship, fear and mistrust and is going to lead to witch hunts.

OMG can I say witch. I have probably offend a Wiccan, someone will snapshot this post and I will lose my job. Thats what it is going to come to.
Nothing new has happened here. Only the medium has changed. Let's say at a house party back in the 70s, an employee made scandalous remarks to the party group about a friend of the boss and that remark found its way back to the boss. The boss would most likely have fired him, point blank.

It's a bit harder to do that in larger companies today only because of that PC stuff you decry. Back in the old days, you'd be out on the street in a heartbeat for any remark the boss didn't like, said anywhere at any time: "Do not pass HR, do not collect severance pay."

to.
And I disagree with you. As an owner, I can tell you that I would fire an employee like that in a nano second. Not only does behavior like that go against my belief system and the philosophies of my company, it reflects so poorly on company image (which affects profit) and creates an unprofessional, hostile work environment. A business protects their assets, two highly important assets being their reputation and other employees. If you want to call standing up for beliefs, employees, profits and reputation a "witch hunt," then so be it, but I just call it ethical and prudent business decision.

President of the guy's company handled the situation brilliantly...

The work environment is the responsibility of the employer. The employer is free to decide he does not want to employ hateful (and apparently not smart enough to use social media appropriately or know enough to stay off) people.

They didn't take the original snapshot. They found it and made it go viral. It's in the article posted upthread.

Don't get me wrong, there were many vile posts concerning this kid within that FB thread, and I also agree that he should have spoken up.

I just wanted to clarify that.

I dont think some of you realize just how cruel these things were that these people said, and to a 3 year olds dispense no less. People are worried about freedom of speech, but wont call out people comparing the boy to "Sambo." This is not a social media issue or whiny PC issue, its an American issue. Just sad the excuses I keep seeing for this guy. He lost his job, boo hoo. Maybe if him and his friends had common sense and deceny and realized what year it is, then he'd still be employed and we wouldnt be arguing over something so ignorant.
That's probably the most disturbing part. It's everyone else's fault for being so nosy and sensitive, not my fault for what I said/did!

There were more comments and also these comments were made by white, Hispanic and Asian friends of this guy

Plenty of CON C-Ders talk like that mocking uneducated blacks. They should feel proud.

Idiots on Facebook.

The irony is that if you click on the article you'll see even more people weighing in on the article making rude or racist statements. People can't really be that dumb can they?
