The curriculum for California schools have included teaching junior high kids about the various main religions for decades. This isn't something new because of Obama or something it was never a problem before. There are 1.5 billion muslims in the world to not teach our kids about people who are not like them is to encourage xenophobia.

Europe is not that far ahead in education half my cousins live in Europe and we learn basically they learn what we learn in 11th and 12TH Grade in University, except they maybe a year advanced depending on the country (U.K.), they also skip over the repetitive stuff (cough middle school), World History happens in HS but In 6th grade we have World Geography, followed by Texas History 7th Grade and U.S History 8th Grade for those of you asking why do they learn Un-American things is because they Take U.S History 3 times throughout school, 5th Grade, 8th Grade and 11th Grade for AP/ Pre-AP unless you take it early.
Please first infdorm yourself about our education system before you start talking about how our education system is. To e honest a lot of times it isn't the system but the students and teachers themselves if you go through U.S education and do well you are just as educated if not more educated than the Average European Guy or Girl graduating. Actually I am generalizing because I live in Texas so I don't know if our standards are higher or lower than other states.
Texas is pretty bad, but many US states fair badly on history standards.

Quote:
Texas combines a rigidly thematic and theory-based social studies structure with a politicized distortion of history. The result is both unwieldy and troubling, avoiding clear historical explanation while offering misrepresentations at every turn
Compare to Massachusetts

http://www.edexcellencemedia.net/pub...sachusetts.pdf

Quote:
The Massachusetts U.S. history standards offer clear, comprehensible outlines, rigorously focused on historical substance and comprehension. Despite occasional omissions and weak spots, the content is detailed and sophisticated, offering explanation and context as well as lists—a model of how history standards should be organized
or the best for now - South Carolina
http://www.edexcellencemedia.net/pub...thCarolina.pdf

Quote:
South Carolina has supplemented its already solid U.S. history standards with extraordinary, narrative “curriculum support” documents. The support texts not only outline what should be covered, but also explain the actual history in depth, maintaining a nuanced, sophisticated, and balanced approach throughout. The result sets a new bar for what states can accomplish: The combined standards and support texts earn the distinction of being the best U.S. history standards in the nation at this time

And the point was......???
The point here, which you illustrate nicely, is that some people are so utterly moronic, they think Muslim and Christian extremism are equivalent dangers.

You can tell that half of this board wasn't taught world religions just by the way that they post here.

Hmmm ... the teacher is correct because the teacher has a piece of paper.

Hmmm ... are you perchance in the field of education? And if so, in what capacity?

James777 is right.

Let's start studying Bible verses in the 4th grade...
Let's start with this one...
Ezekiel 23:20-21
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. 21So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.

Then once we cover sex we can move onto violence...
Exodus 21:15,17
"Anyone who attacks their father or mother is to be put to death."
"Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death."

Having slaves is ok, just don't be too cruel to them...
Exodus 21:20-21
"Anyone who beats their male or female slave with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result,
21
but they are not to be punished if the slave recovers after a day or two, since the slave is their property.

Good ole Christian values, yep...
