I could have completely changed the tone of this tread by simply changing the word church to mosque.

Just saw CNN interview of a former member- young man so traumatized he almost lost it on TV -- He too was taken to "counseling " and although NOT beat physically he was emotionally and mentally- its was horrifying just to hear his experience--- send those leaders to jail - they are evil-

Not that you need coaching on this, but as a reminder to others who see this,

Political, economic, philosophical, etc. beliefs can also function as a quasi-religion as well - even non-totalitarian systems.

the former member said the parents were broken down by the leaders- so I think they followed orders-- very powerful mind control when a parent kills own child to please the darn pastor - THE LEADERSHIP NEEDS TO GO TO JAIL

Phil, I agree. Any group who gets together on a regular basis and has particular "rituals" is practicing religion. It can be very unhealthy in the hands of the wrong leaders.

I do believe in the Bible and try to follow the teachings of the Messiah. I don't consider myself religious. (Satan of the Bible is very religious.)

But the Bible says that teachers/preachers will be held to a higher standard. I like to rephrase that like this: If you are causing harm to yourself you are wrong and will suffer consequences but woe to you if you are influencing others in a negative way. A simple analogy is DOING drugs as opposed to influencing others to do drugs. Or church leaders that promote and condone abuse in any way. UGH.

True, any theory system which is forced on humanity is corrupt.
