She declined her seat? So she decided to stand instead?

Well that wasn't a very nice thing to say. Why so snarky?

Flying used to be so much fun, now I hate it. Five hour delay, that's bad.

The few times I have created a thread, I usually manage to bosh it. I should stick with responding to threads.

I meant " reclined".

Look at how the passengers dress and look in the movie "Airport" vs what you see boarding planes today. Flying used to be for a better class of people and business travelers.

Perhaps you're unaware of how a dictionary definition works. The numbers next to each definition are a ranking of how popular that meaning is.

In other words, yes you can technically use decline, but since the usual term for this is recline don't be pissed when someone points that out. Especially since decline, even with your definition is still an odd word choice.

Quote:
RECLINE

[ri-klahyn]
verb (used without object), reclined, reclining.
1.
to lean or lie back; rest in a recumbent position.

verb (used with object), reclined, reclining.
2.
to cause to lean back on something; place in a recumbent position.
