I wonder if the people named are really Klan Members?
Quote:
Online hacktivist group Anonymous began publishing phone numbers and email of alleged Ku Klux Klan members Monday, earlier than its promised date. Another list posted to the same data website named nine politicians as members of the KKK - something even the Anonymous group Operation KKK would not substantiate.Several of the politicians listed came out to call the allegations false.
Members of the group said in a news release Wednesday they would reveal the identity of 1,000 members of the hate group Nov. 5. The group allegedly gained the information by hacking a Twitter account associated with the KKK.
Anonymous posted listings on the website Pastebin with at least 40 phone numbers and email addresses, but no names.
The cyber attack is a response to the KKK saying it would use violence against those protesting in Ferguson MO, in 2014 over the death of Michael Brown. The hacking collective has fought with the Klan through social media.
The release of the information coincides with the anniversary of a grand jury's decision to not prosecute Officer Darren Wilson for Brown's death.
Another website claimed four U.S. senators and five mayors are also members of the KKK. The Anonymous twitter account "Operation KKK" tweeted that list of politicians is unverified, and it has since deleted the tweet.
Some of the politicians mentioned in the allegations have taken to Twitter to respond and deny any affiliation.
Sen. Dan Coats, R-IN, was among the politicians listed. He responded on Twitter that he never had any affiliation with the KKK and deplored all forms of racial discrimination.
"This is baseless Internet garbage of the worst kind," he tweeted.
This would not be hard to fake for political reasons. Without solid proof, I ain't buying what they're selling (or giving away).
Let's go on a wild hypothetical ride for a moment.
PAC says "Hey, let's really attack some politicians and really try to ruin their reputations."
"I've got a bright idea. We claim to be Anonymous, and release a list of members of the KKK. Have a little build-up, and then "boom", we drop the bomb shell. Make the list include a bunch of prominent Republians and throw in that junior senator that pissed us off last year for a little supposed balance. We can buy those masks at the Halloween store, and Jack, over there, he can put together a video. Billy can fake a website. All in favor?"
Sorry. This is about where my thought process heads. Not buying into the hype.
Shocking! Every GOP presidential candidate is on the list, including Ben Carson! So are Bernie Sanders and Martin O'Malley! Biden was on an earlier version of the list but his name was dropped when he decided not to run.
A previous thread discussing the same thing was locked.
I don't think we need another one.
That didn't stop a third thread about SROs from being started. Standard operations now.
