The Department of Justice Friday released cell phone video recorded by Conrad Barrett, the so-called "knock out guy," who was convicted of a hate crime for punching an elderly black man in the face. "I have to step up the courage," Barrett says in the video moments before the attack. "For about a week now, I have been unable to go through with the plan," he says. "The plan is to see if I hit an elderly black person would this be televised nationally?" The video was a central part of the case to convict Barrett, who was recently sentenced by a federal judge in Houston to 71 months in prison. The attack took place outside a shopping mall on Thanksgiving weekend in 2013 and left the victim, identified in court papers as a 79-year-old black man who has the initials R.C., with a broken jaw and missing teeth.
The kid is a real scumbag. They should have gave him 20 years. I have a parent who is 79 years old & I can't imagine something like this happening to them. Most likely the old man will never be the same again....his last few years of health are stolen away.
Absolutely disgusting. Anyone who commits this type of crime between any race should be considered a hate crime. In all honesty it isn't fair that he was sentenced to 71 months while all over YouTube you can find videos of black teenagers knocking out white people and yet it isn't considered a hate crime. We have got to stop this double standard in our country if we are truly equal!!

Glad he got arrested and will serve time in jail. He is a scumbag and he makes me sick to my stomach. Oh btw how many white people have been the victim of the KO game? How many of the perpetrators were black? How many were charged with a hate crime?

There have been cases of that occurring but you will be hard pressed producing a thread of people supporting the behavior or implying that a completely innocent person must of had it coming. Btw the knockout game victims have been black, white, Hispanic. Asian, men, women, children the old and the young. In all incidents it was a senseless and cowardly act.
A sick fukc. I don't understand the need to approach someone in a friendly manner then throw a punch. This victim was cleaning his yard, being a man. These knockout videos are full of scared little boys afraid of responsibility and life challenges. Put down the video games, get a decent job, move out of Mommy's basement...do something with your life! Yes I am angry at all these shameful acts. Regardless of race, this is sick...and chicksh1t.
