That is the way I took it. IIRC that was just one 5-6 second scene in a montage of images and scenes while that song was playing and the episode was wrapping up.

I'm not saying they weren't meaning it to be a poignant moment, but it wasn't the only thing going on.

Regardless, I think the show has ran out of track and the characters don't have anything else to do or situations to explore and the only thing left to do now is try to shock and disturb people with violent unsavory acts.

Exactly! Funny how there's an uproar over abortion being murdered when just the scene before someone was shot, execution style. But no one is complaining about that violence.
