ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — A Denver-area store called Isis Books & Gifts wants the world to know its name comes from the Egyptian goddess of healing and motherhood and it isn't run by terrorists.
Co-owner Jeff Harrison said Wednesday that the suburban Denver shop has been vandalized five times in the past year or so, probably by people who mistake the name for ISIS, one of the acronyms for the Islamic State terrorist group.
This is what embarrasses me about us in this country. I for one have been so impressed with how the French have handled this...they have come together, not started attacking each other, survivors interviewed called for Peace....they did what they felt they had to in bombing Syria, but without all the stupid macho crotch-grabbing and hate fueled rage we display so often nowadays.
This is exactly what Isis wants, btw. They want no distinction between them, and anything or anyone with a name that sounds remotely Muslim...they want a war between Muslims and the rest of the world, and every time we attack someone for being brown or having a weird name, or attack a Sikh Indian because we think his turban is Muslim...we give them exactly what they are trying for, and make ourselves look like a**es to the rest of the world.

You'd think the fact that 'ISIS' is an all-capped acronym and 'Isis' isn't would tip them off. But then, I doubt even the most basics elements of grammar are strong points with that crowd (but you can bet they're really big "English only!" types, even if they're largely clueless on how the English langauge actually works).
This reminds me of the loser who murdered a Sikh in Arizona on September 15, 2001, in response to the 9/11 attacks. Sikhs, of course, wear turbans and most of them, being of Indian descent, have darker skin than most Americans. But they're not Muslims. But the loser saw dark skin and a turban, so he killed the man.
The same combination of utter ignorance combined with hysteria at work in both cases. Whaddya bet the Sikh-killer and the bookstore vandalizers all listened to the same talk radio and watched the same 'news' channel?
Not the best branding. Calling your customers stupid is not going to generate sales.
It's a bookstore - the knuckle-draggers that are too stupid to differentiate between an acronym and a proper name probably aren't doing much reading. I mean, they might stop in if the bookstore stocks the latest offering from Ted Nugent or sells Duck Dynasty DVDs. But here's a hunch - a bookstore that references an Egyptian goddess in its name probably doesn't stock any of those.
I mean, seriously - how brain-dead... how off-the-deep-end moronic... how utterly bereft of even the slightest clue does a person have to be to think that the Islamic State has a books & gifts shop outside of Denver?

They're not calling their customers stupid, they're calling the idiots who are vandalizing the store stupid. Their customers are probably smart enough to realize they're not associated with a terrorist group. The Egyptian goddess name is rather obvious anyway. Also, isis

You'd have to be a flatliner, all right. Bookstores are not that easy to find anymore, either. I hope the business doesn't fold because of this idiocy.
