This is just a sad story.

(CNN)Ciera Meyer was sick and stayed at home from school. She was shot dead after her father pulled a gun on a constable who came calling, police said.

On Monday, Pennsylvania State Constable Clarke Steele was serving an eviction notice to Donald Meyer, 57, in Penn Township when Meyer slid a .223-caliber rifle into view and pointed it at Steele's chest, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Totally the dad's fault. I just wish the constable had better aim.

Or they could serve eviction notices in better ways than this. Disgusting.

The bullet passed through the fathers arm and struck the daughter who was standing behind him. Did the father not know his child was standing behind him? How did he think it would end if he pulled his gun out- did he want his daughter to see him being shot?

Yeah, or people that play stupid games might think twice before pulling a weapon on an officer, but that would be personal responsibility, not something we do here in the US of A

Probably had the talk in the back of his mind about how "cops should just shoot to wound. Why can't they just hit the guy in the arm or leg? Why do they have to kill them?"

Isn't it too cold out to evict people? Or is that a somewhere-other-than-PA law?

Like how? If the guy is armed, and has no intention of leaving, how on earth are you going to get him out of there? Or should they just let him stay?

Dad's fault. I can't imagine the stress a parent would be under knowing they were getting evicted either. Very sad situation.
