Somebody's gotta pay for those roads. Quit whining, because in this country we are paying WELL BELOW what we should to maintain our roads. The fact that our roads across the country are **** means Americans still don't pay the full cost of road maintenance. The federal gas tax has not been raised since the early 1990s. Think about that for a moment before spouting off "California sucks because of high taxes", because Californians are subsidizing the rest of the US

Californias roads SUCK. Some of the worst. Their gas money goes to the communists in power.

As for the Federal gas tax, maybe if they stopped squandering our tax money in a thousand ways they could fix the roads.

It's an isolated case for the simple-minded who confuse "news" with the garbage sold at supermarket checkouts -- nothing less and nothing more.

California is terrible in general, not just gas prices.

People here wait in line at Costco to save .05 per gallon, which on any normal car is a savings of less than a dollar. Their time isn't worth much I guess.

You people in California are being robbed. Here in Tennessee its around $1.65 give or take ten cents. Are your taxes that bad or are oil companies stealing from you. Oil is 30 dollars a barrel so you should not be paying that.

Don't know about CA but here in MI the roads are complete crap, and gas tax (up there vs other states) is spent on schools and local Goverment.

In other words, it's a general tax applied to gas purchases.

Here, Costco is usually a good $.12 - 13 less than average price. And the wait isn't that bad. Usually there's a car or two in front. Saving about a hundred bucks annually, and that's with only filling up at Costco when it's convenient.

I think that gas is cheaper everywhere else (save maybe CA) than here in Pennsylvania. We are still at 2.15 a gallon most places and 2.09 a gallon if you want to drive to Erie. The general cost of living is very low in my area of Pennsylvania but the gas prices suck.
