KILLEEN, Texas -- A Killeen mother is defending her son who was suspended after helping a fellow student having an asthma attack.

Anthony Ruelas, 15, said his eighth grade classmate was wheezing and gagging for three minutes Tuesday morning while no one did anything. But when Ruelas did do something, he apparently broke the rules.

Another crazy judgement made by a school. He certainly could have saved her life.
These public schools are so nuts nowadays, I don't know how parents get by with all the silly rules and regulations. When I went to school, the teacher would have insisted the biggest boy in the room do just that-pick her up and haul her to the nurse immediately.

I wonder how the school's press release would have read if the boy hadn't helped her, and she ended up in the hospital... or worse, because of the delay in 'waiting for an e-mail'. Is e-mailing the nurse when there's a medical emergency standard procedure in that school? If so, I hope they have good liability insurance.
The kid did the right thing, teacher & school... not so much.

I am not sure I even believe these reports anymore. They are so outlandish.

No, it really happened. It was reported as well by a news station in San Antonio.

If i was that teachers boss i'd have a serious talk with her about logic.Ya got a student in dire need and you are waiting for an email? Good for the boy for doing the right thing.

It could have been that very same "boss" that wrote the procedures insisting on email for emergencies.

These are people teaching your kids how to "think critically" folks. Remember that.
