I didn't know North Carolina had a pro football team. Is it new? What city does it belong to? And so it is that team and Denver Broncos?

Aw, I'm sorry about that, Mightyqueen...the uglier side of some sports.

I just didn't ever get into football - I was in two long-term relationships where the guys didn't care for it - go figure! I like baseball and a more unpopular sport - hockey.

The superbowl has become the lamest game of the season. It's turned into a bunch of unathletic frat boys and cornball spectators who barely know the game, and who have never even played a down of real football in their lives (much less on a highly competitive level) gathering around the TV screaming and yelling and hi fiving each other, just so they can feel like they're a part of something they think is popular and cool. And then there is the generic halftime pop concert every year....no authenticity left to the game...just all around lame now. But who can blame them?...everyone wants to be associated with the league who's players represent toughness, athleticism, success, and wealth.

I personally don't know but I like Bruno Mars and I can't imagine what Coldplay will be doing. If they need a dance number, they should do this song. I love their video to it, ha!

I hear you. I kind of hate football, actually.

I'll probably tune into the Puppy Bowl! (with the sound muted)

I'm 53 years old and have never watched one in its entirety. Not interested. I think those of us not interested in football outnumber those that do. Only 114,000,000 people watched it last year in the U.S. so about 1/3 of the population?

It's not really predictable. Each quarter is 15 minutes of actual play time. But factor in commercials, time outs, injuries, play reviews, etc. ... it ends up being much longer.

Haha--maybe it's just the uglier side of some marriages.

I like baseball better, and I have gone to a few real hockey games. They are pretty exciting.

It's not just North Carolina ... they're the Carolina Panthers. So SC claims them as well, though most people associate them with NC. They don't "belong" to a city, but they play in Charlotte. And they've been around since 1993 (started playing in '95). It's their second time in the Super Bowl.

The Carolina Panthers are from Charlotte. They have been around since 1995 when Charlotte and Jacksonville were awarded expansion teams (1993). They are called Carolina instead of Charlotte Panthers because SC also helped in the bid to win a team. Charlotte is on the state line and thus, a good portion of that state is close enough to go to the game.

This is the Panthers 2nd trip to the Superbowl.
