That almost happened to me on the train. I debated whether to sit near the window or the aisle seat, and chose the aisle seat. Looking down at the window seat next to me, I saw a huge wet spot.

Why don't people wear diapers if they know they have a problem? To go without and soil public seating is just plain nasty.

And before we say the passenger may not have been cognizant enough to tell the crew s/he peed the chair...personal responsibility at an early point in the dementia disease process should dictate s/he hires a companion or doesn't travel at all.

A person with that level of dementia buying a first class ticket, making it to the airport on time, at the right gate, through security, etc? How would that happen without somebody knowing the person is not capable of that level of independence? Seems implausible.

And if for some reason the airline has a policy to help people in that condition (like they do with older kids traveling alone), then they need to add "check the seat for pee and poop" to their post-flight checklist.

His ticket should be refunded and he should be given a voucher for his next flight. Ugh! This is why I try to fly first class.

This was in first class, and the airline did make amends.

Thanks, admittedly I didn't read the article start to finish.

Here are our rights when flying; http://airconsumer.ost.dot.gov/publi.../flyrights.htm

I would of pulled my pants off and started dousing myself with bottled water. This is absolutely disgusting, I find it incredibly hard to believe none of the flight crew knew before take off. If they didn't notice it when cleaning between flights, they need to beore diligent.

At least the passenger was upgraded to first class and not someone paying thousands for the seat. I would raise hell if my first class seat was soaked with urine.

It's disgusting no matter what class on the plane the seat is in. But the airline cares more about first class so I'm sure they'd get better treatment.
