Four students in Payette are in a whole lot of hot water.
Payette Police Chief Mark Clark said investigators believe the four boys — three high-schoolers and one middle-school student, all younger than 18 — torched the high school principal’s house a week ago and stole items after breaking into cars. They face felony charges, Clark said.
Authorities say that hours after the the Feb. 22 fire, a high school student posted on social media an emoji of flames with the message, "Burn b**** burn."
Three high school students and one middle schooler were arrested for burning down the home, police said. One suspect has been charged with first degree arson, and the other three have been charged with a conspiracy to commit arson. All four will be reportedly tried as adults.
Two of students had recently been suspended after a school investigation into prescription drug use, Payette Police Chief Mark Clark told the Idaho Statesman.
Over a decade ago my next door neighbor was a high school principal. In June of that year when school was getting out, a few guys from the senior class found out where he lived and the night of the final day of school, they quietly entered the cul de sac I lived in and spray painted on the asphalt 'F*CK YOU (principal's last name)' and underneath it sprayed 'CLASS OF 2005!! CYA!!'
The article says the principal and his family were in the house at the time that it was engulfed in flames, and barely escaped with their lives. That was not merely arson. It was attempted murder. The kids obviously had a grudge against the principal. They didn't wait until the family was away on vacation. They torched the place with the family asleep inside.
They should have the book thrown at them. Arson is nothing, it's just property damage. They tried to kill a family.
What happened to toilet papering a house? Charges should include attempted murder.
