As the worst offender I realize now that this will obviously morph into a gun debate that is not allowed here. Why not start this thread on the appropriate board?

So we can see this play again on this board where we go on and on and it's finally locked with both sides defending their side as the only truth.
Guys - BE ADVISED - mod's will close a 2A debate on gun ownership in this forum as quick as you can snap your finger...and thus you are wasting time and text.
That being said, this is not a gun debate issue - besides the ironic tagline, it's another example of a gun owner not following safety standards, particularly around children. It's also an example of a gun owner breaking EXISTING gun laws that may not be enforced. In this case picking up on this comment:
"“Florida Statute makes it a misdemeanor for a person to store or leave, on a premise under his or her control, a loaded firearm in such a manner that it is likely a child can gain access to the firearm,” officials said in the statement, adding that they will not file any charges before they get a chance to speak with the victim."
One must also be aware that any news article is, essentially, anecdotal.
I guess the NRA answer would be, she should have had a gun too, so she could have taken out the "bad guy" with her own gun. Being Florida, the 4 year old was probably legally open carry.

More guns is the answer!
Amen. If Mom had been carrying, she could have nipped this in the bud--presuming she is as good a shot as the four year old. It never fails, in a moment of need, people forget all about the NRA guidelines.
