This is just similar to the incident where a Minnesota cop shot a guy after pulling him over.

It occasionally happens and it is due to 'muscle memory reflex' that is the result of their training.

The video is garbage, cuts out at the important points. Selective editing?

The bad guy had a gun, but not in hand, therefore not an IMMEDTATE deadly threat. Unjustified shooting IMHO, and I teach this stuff.

Too many officers can't seem to get their finger off the trigger once the threat has stopped. A civilian would be up on 2nd Degree Homicide for shooting an unarmed man laying on the ground, no matter how big a crook or ahole he is. You can't shoot scum just for being scum. Neither can cops.

The reporter said the guy is 28 but the thread title says he is a teen.

Muscle memory is not a valid justification of defense. They do not get a "pass" - YOU would definately not get a pass. The fact that cops are unreasonably keyed up because they deal with scum all day is invalid.

I dunno,

The kid had a gun and had just committed a robbery. Gonna be hard to fault a cop for being jumpy with that info.

I think this might be a good shoot because he was moving or something. Hard to tell. Maybe something new will come out about it.

Well they may not fault a cop - but they would sure as h3ll fault YOU for not getting off the trigger the instant the threat stops. This is a big problem the double standard. Cops are supposed to be trained to react better than the public.

I'm not "raggin" on cops. But there have been entirely too many excessive force shootings in recent years and it has to stop. Like the 300 shots at the San Bernardino terrorists. Come on, Bonnie and Clyde only got shot 187 times and THAT was grossly excessive.

I saw the SOC make a move towards the dropped gun. I would have shot also... he is lucky to be alive.

Wow..just wow... Wrong on so many levels...and sure you are

I suggest those of you that have any concerns this was not only a good shooting and proper application of force go read multiple reports of what happened... I don't think there can be a cleaner shoot...

Armed
Commission of a felony of the dangerous kind
Flee and refuse lawful arrest

Even the supremes have said this fits all the parameters of the proper use of deadly force

Monday morning quarterbacking works on the internet... Not in the street

This thread wasn't about San berdoo... And that shooting has been discussed ad nauseam...another acceptable use of force... And of those rounds fired most entered the vehicle... The remaining were in and around the terrorist running and firing at officers..Including injuring one....

Should we shoot one round and wait for the suspect to say... I'm good....San Francisco now has a two round policy... It will be interesting how many officers get killed with such training

Shoot to stop... Account for every round..that's our policy.. And its sound

By the way op.. Anyone can post a link... That's just post padding... Give your opinion... Even the title is inflammatory
