60K...90K...Those are good livings around where I live. But getting by in NYC on 60K is gonna be tough. As far as I know, you won't be living in the city and raising a family, so there is that commute.
Too bad those jobs aren't portable. If someone wants to pick up all that overtime to provide for his family, then good for him!
$90k in NYC does not go very far after federal income taxes, state income taxes, sales tax on purchases, property taxes and paying more for everything like rent, etc. And good luck buying a house in NYC on a salary of $90k a year.
BTW: The DSNY (garbage) salary for sanitation workers tops out at $73k, so hitting $90k would require overtime.

Yes. And they get plenty of overtime.
One garbage man married to a teacher and you are looking at a triple digit household income.

Sure there is a commute but NYC is one of the best cities for transportation.
You don't need a vehicle.
I just checked zillow and there's over 100 homes for sale in Queens $250K and under.
You want to make that sort of money, go apply for that job.
Exactly. Yet we all know they would never want to do that sort of work, so instead they waste their time on a forum complaining about how good those people have it.

The base salary for a NYC MTA bus driver is $67,462 but 5 drivers made between $134,953 to $153,173 in 2015
MTA spokesperson said that the service is short of drivers and some have to work OT. [that's a lot of OT]
they deserve it. they get abused on a daily basis by the scum of society. you couldn't pay me enough to do it.
For example, you need to earn about twice as much to live in NYC than you need to live in Denver, CO.
