So it was the School that is responsible not the mfr.
I never said the manufacturer was at fault, but that I hoped they fixed the problem. Which would be to fix the safety latch and maybe make sure someone double checks the locks. Or get different tables.

Read that as "The Tax Payers of Bergen County"

Can someone explain how this table "fell"? I have read the article, these tables fold in half then roll to wherever they are stowed if they open up the 2 halves roll outward till the center is on the floor.

I'll venture a guess that the locking mechanism was broken and it folded further than it should have (no longer a isosceles triangle) and each one was stored against the wall. Since they were playing sports, most likely someone bounced against and instead of the table unfolding it flipped over away from the wall. The kid was near it and most likely not standing in a direction to move out of the way of its fall.

It's not a rolling table. It folds down from the wall. There is a drawing of one with this article:

Semantics. They already pay for the insurance policy the county carries as part of their property taxes.

It's a number the attorney pulled out of a hat. Whatever amount the County pays out, the attorney will get around half of it anyway.

Thank you your picture makes more sense than the original link, that one made it look like a conventional cafeteria table. I have never seen these type of tables anywhere and I work for a school district.
