Parents are just not doing the right thing, by their kids. Quit being a kids dam friend and be the parent. She shouldn't have left the house as a young woman being that "secksy". And I'm the last person who would be called a prude.
It's hard to tell from the picture but I can see that the dress may have been viewed as inappropriate. If you have really large breasts, you do have to ensure that the dress will keep them from "popping out". Large breasted women cannot wear the exact same styles as a flat-chested woman - and not look ridiculous. It's not "shaming", it's just common sense.
And just good taste. We are way past the time in this country where sensibility left the picture. Ridiculous. And I have 2 daughters, one of which is now a teen. She is a slight little thing, but no way I'd let her leave the house showing this much skin.

The dress is fine, what fills it overflowed it. I believe "objectively" speaking, It could have been fitted more eloquently to accentuate without advertising the twins. Most fashion designers would have accommodated the form to fit the fashion.
This is not a comparison of slits and what Sally wore. this is about the dress size and the persons endowed features. Most adult ladies have some respect for how they dress and present themselves. I'd like to think modesty is a ladies character asset.
And a male showing respect to women is his greatest asset. So, let's all show a level of civility, and respect women regardless of their size, and ladies, there is a time and place for b00bs hanging out, but 17 and high school prom is not it.
She wouldn't have gotten kicked out if she was thin, or even a normal weight. It's not just her bust, she has fat hanging out all over. Gross. I wore a way sluttier getup to my prom in 2000 and had no issues whatsoever. I was a size 2 and could actually pull it off.
High school girls have many years ahead to dress up in sexy outfits as adults. No need for these types of dresses as it is still a High School event. Funny, parents get so upset if someone ogles their "little girl" but they are ok with them dressing specifically to sexualize themselves. This is not like wearing short shorts or crop tops in the summer, it's formal and intended to look a certain way. Prom was designed to be a formal, classy event, tuxes and formal dresses, not a contest for who can look more like a not so classy celebrity and show off their bodies.

I think her dress is fine, she's decently covered, and looks great. At her age, I'd have been happy to wear a gorgeous dress like that (and I'd have rocked it, too).
She looks fine - this was about her size. The teacher even made a comment about "Us big girls gotta cover up." This is about that teacher being uncomfortable about her own body and trying to force this student to feel the same way.
I fail to see the problem here. Are schools allowed to have dress codes or not? If so, then they must be followed. Appropriate or not is not the issue. Compliance with dress codes is. If the dress code is too ambiguous, then clarify it with an amendment.
