This happens often. I'm not a fan of horse racing and all the stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Those horses are being drugged and injuries are being masked

I agree. If you want to run, jump fences, pivot around like a ballerina- do it yourself , don't make a horse do it. Jeez.

I went to a few polo matches and saw more than one horse go down. Go play croquet, cricket, golf instead.

Then mysterious fires at barns- sure there are some good horse people ; doesn't change what they're asking the horses to do.

I don't have anything against horse racing, but why do they make them run under rainy/muddy conditions?

It's because the footing of the track doesn't change THAT much when the track has experienced less than 5 inches of rain. There aren't many days when there's a torrential downpour. If there is, races are usually cancelled.

How long will it be before the animal rights people get involved with this and ban horse racing?
They finally succeeded in getting Wringling Brothers to end their traditional elephant acts.

The horses could be next to be banned but there is A LOT of money in horse racing so that might take some doing.

I personally don't see the appeal in horse racing. If people want to race cars professionally, risking no one but themselves, then that's fine with me but I feel for these horses when they're injured and ultimately put down because they're deemed useless or simply too hurt. Totally avoidable.
