Nice. A simple looking ship with a lot under the hood.

If the thing was airtight and had a nuclear space drive it could be the Enterprise. Bath built is all I need to know to be certain this will be a very capable warship.

The Zumwalt class was originally intended to consist of 32 ships. After prices ballooned - the unit cost is $3,000,000,000+ (that excludes R&D, which for the class now tops $10,000,000,000) - Congress reduced the order to 3 ships.

If it meets all of the designed expectations of systems on board, that thing is going to send shivers up the spines of many navies.

The reverse angle bow is amazing to look at. Begs the question, where are the chain lockers situated?

Three of them will just be the start if it does everything the way the designers envisioned.

That is some ship!

This ship is a far cry from the Vietnam era destroyer for which was "home" tor me. I cannot imagine the training each crewmember was required to take, just to understand its workings and their responsibilities to make it the fighting vessel she will become.

"Anchors aweigh, my boys,
Anchors aweigh!
Farewell to all these joys
We sail at break of day..."

GO NAVY
