Is that what passes as acceptable clothing these days? As long as your butt cheeks aren't hanging out...

This is a commercial flight she paid for not a United States high school with a dress code.

Those are some ugly shorts, but inappropriate didn't come to mind, more like a large fancy diaper.

I suspect that you are correct...the bolded is likely what happened.

Considering the chaos encountered at airports for even domestic flights, I cannot imagine being "dressed up" to fly... I'd be drenched in sweat by the time the plane landed. I dress comfortably, which is typically shorts and a polo or t shirt.

The airline cares. And it is their plane which she is a guest on until they say otherwise. If she wants to fly on their plane she has to abide by their wishes.

Me too. Which is why I have never had trouble boarding an airplane. This lady doesn't have to advertise who she is or what she does by dressing like that everywhere she goes, but if she chooses to she must also be open to the idea that she might not be allowed to step on to private property or be denied service.

I don't think anyone is arguing that the airline has no right to enact idiotic rules and then apply them arbitrarily, all in a misguided attempt to placate the Legion of Decency - members of which get the vapors when they see too much thigh.

Yes, this airline has every right to haphazardly apply moronic business practices for foolish reasons.
