No. I think that limits need to be set using, as much as possible, the "85% rule" where in free flowing traffic 85% of the drivers are not speeding. And ticket the remaining 15% aggressively.

Once I hit 5 miles over the limit, give me a ticket. I won't complain...particularly with cruise control.

I did the small coin one thing...although not to be pitchy, and I didn't even think of the inconvenience. I was returning from a trip to NY City and driving through New Jersey where all those toll booths are. Traffic was horribly backed up at each and every toll booth. I had a habit of throwing coins in the arm rest storage area, so while I sat there waiting for like 15 minutes, I thought -- hey, might as well count out coins for this toll. When I got to the toll window and handed the guy the coins he said, "You son of a *****!" If he had just pointed out the time it would take him to count out the coins, I would have rethought what I did, but his attitude just made me stubborn. No protest, just not thinking.

If I were the clerk, I'd send him 22,000 receipts for one cent each.

Pennies and nickles were never made of silver, so they didn't get the serrated edge.

And pennies are legal tender in any amount unless the place of business specifies they aren't in advance of payment.
This is embarrassing, but I am going to retract my previous statements. I believe the law was what I said it was years ago. However, after I posted I went and checked again. It appears to have changed. The rule now is that all money is legal tender, but private entities have the right to refuse specific denominations of currency or particular coins if they choose to do so. For example, this is why we see signs saying that businesses won't accept anything larger than $20 bills in payment. By the same token, they can refuse to accept pennies as payment for a debt, or nickels, or dimes, etc.

In my younger days, roughly when I was between 26 and 28, I lived in Westchester County (with my parents) and dated someone in Rockland County. Every once in a while, for the fun of it, I paid the Tappan Zee Bridge toll, then $1.50, with three penny-rolls. Never loose change. I'll admit I did it for a lark.

LOL would have been funny as hell if a cop was there and shot him thinking some kind of attack was happening. Thanks for speeding and ruining someone else's day jerk. Jeez some people are so desperate to get on youtube.

Usually but not always.

15th Ave W ( a major artery) in Seattle was 40 and was changed to 30 a couple years ago due to "a high number of accidents and 1 fatality." It's a straight stretch with businesses and crosswalks... and nobody does 30 mph.

When I first started working down there 2 years ago I learned real quick where the cops like to hide... at the UHaul depot with a truck as cover.

I got pulled over a couple days after the change in speed limit for 48 in a 30 in my new Red Challenger with custom "Never Late" license plate. I'm screwed...

Nope. Cop let me off with a warning.

Not 20 mins later a co worker got pulled over for 45 in a 30 in his beat up POS 1996 Toyota and got a $185 ticket.

I guess having a clean driving record overruled me driving a cop magnet.

Oh... I haven't been pulled over again. I drive 30... and am consistently passed... And consistently see people pulled over in the same area. A nice speed trap for the city of Seattle.

Not working at the time, but well able to pay the fine, I elected to go to Jail, rather than pay a $6 fine. Sentenced to 3 days, but, with good time, I was out in a day and a half. They lost some money on that one! 5 decent meals for free! That was 1970!

And today, for a $220 fine, I'm sure the sentence wouldn't have been much longer. He should have just hung out in jail and saved his pennies!

It's really not that big of a deal. One can just take said pennies to the bank, drop them in the machine, and have it count it for you at a 2% fee. No one has to individually count every single penny.
