I can understand somebody losing their mind and murdering the person. But don't know how they should be dealt with by the courts. I'm not an expert.

But slowly and methodically torturing somebody then killing them? That's taking things to a whole new level.

I'm guessing you would get some serious jail time unless you got a really, really good lawyer and a dumb jury.

Put me on that jury and, hands down, 'Not Guilty'... of anything other than protecting his wife.

No jury would convict this guy ... not sure why they're bothering. I'm sure the perp's family will sue for wrongful death but, again, good luck with a sympathetic jury.

The thing is, he didn't beat the guy to death as the guy was attacking his wife, inside the Washington Square apartment. He beat the guy as the two of them were getting off an elevator, and his wife screamed, "That's him!"

I understand the emotion, and Diallo could claim temporary insanity, I guess.

But I agree with others that said, "You can't do that." You cant use excessive force to defend yourself, or your wife.

He would have had a good reason to believe the guy was going to kill his wife inside the apartment. Outside the apartment, the threat is removed. Diallo has to prove he had no choice but to kill the guy. He couldn't just detain him, or break his legs, and wait for police, or something?

And, God forbid, what if the wife identified the wrong guy, who happened to look similar to the guy that attacked her?

We need more information, and I guess the law does too.

In some cases it's worse and will end in suicide anyway. Sexual assault is a crime that keeps on killing. It changes the lives of the victims, their families and often generations to come.

Perps deserve to be beat to death.

This is so true. There is a sense of violation, fear of all men, always looking over your shoulder, convinced YOU did something to encourage the attack. A lot of women gain weight, believing they become undesirable if they don't look good. Others do their best to be unattractive.

There are many consequences for this crime. A woman never forgets and often feels it diminishes their worth. The husband defended her and punished the person who violated his wife. He probably also saved many other women from what his wife suffered at the hands of this swear word.

The guy had to be arrested and charged, there's no way around it. If charges are later dismissed or he is found not guilty or not guilty for reasons of insanity, or if he is found guilty and given probation, justice will have been served. Considering what he did he has to go through the process though.
