This is so depressing - the constant stories about violence against women in Pakistan and other Middle Eastern countries. There is nothing we can actually do to help these women and it seems like a never-ending cycle of hatred, fear and control over women. I always wonder what the decent men in these countries feel about this. Don't they love their mothers, wives, sisters and daughters? All of these beautiful women tortured and murdered regularly and nothing seems to change.[/quote
Wars have been fought over oil and other commodities. Because the balance between boys and girls is getting lopsided there will be 100 Million + HORNY Chinese Men of military age. If/When these young Men of military age decide they need a Mate they will invade Muslim countries and kill the Men and marry the Women. A win win for the West and Muslim Women. We will not have to fire a shot.

That's actually a great idea.
Meanwhile, Chinese parents are abandoning baby girls at hospitals and orphanages, or even outright killing them, because they prefer boys.
These people are like barbarians. What would interest me, which I'm not seeing in the article, is whether this was a direct proposal, rather than being channeled through the parents.
A country under the yoke of corruption, an inept government, a military wing who supports the extremists and a religion which shackles women are some of the problems facing Pakistan and many Islamic countries. Until these countries reform themselves many more women will be hurt and killed.
Any change—if it is to be permanent–cannot be imposed by Western outsiders on a tribal, Islamic society. It has to emerge through education within the context of the culture.
Afghanistan, Congo and Pakistan are the world’s most dangerous countries for women due to a barrage of threats ranging from violence and rape to dismal health care and honor killings.
Pakistanis need to decide if they are going to be governed by the Constitution of Pakistan, which grants equal rights to everyone or by the will of illiterate clerics.
