According to ABC Atlanta affiliate, WSB-TV, two passengers in McGee’s car said the teenager was using the speed filter on Snapchat just before the crash.

“She said, ‘Well, I’m just going to hit 100, and then I’m going to slow down,’” one of the passengers, Heather McCarty, told ABC Atlanta affiliate WSB-TV last month.

McGee was charged Wednesday with reckless driving, super speeder, driving too fast for conditions and serious injury by vehicle, a felony, according to WSB

Maynard, who was driving the car McGee rear-ended, will never be the same.

"He was in a coma, spent five weeks in intensive care. He has a brain injury that is permanent. His wife is having to take care of him," said Todd Henningsen, one of Maynard’s attorneys.

Can this possibly any more dumber than texting and driving?

It seems that teens have the ability to drive a vehicle and master social media technology, but don't have the good judgment not to do both at the same time. With all the recent efforts at educating them about the risks involved, you would think they would be starting to get the message. Evidently not.

I can't help but wonder if daddy will be replacing darling daughter's Mercedes.

the teenager’s attorneys said the damage to the victim was caused solely by his own negligence.
So this stupid, irresponsible idiot rear-ends and severely injures another driver while doing 90 mph, and it's the rear-ended driver's fault?? Uneffingbelievable.

If daddy is stupid enough to buy there teenage daughter a mercedes. Then I am sure he is stupid enough to pay for her thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollar in legal fees and claims court fees. That is... if he has any money left after she is sued for giving someone permanent brain damage....

I'm either experiencing deja vu or there is another thread on this crash...

Anyways, this girl should spend some time in jail followed by a lot of community service and have her driving privileges revoked for life if found guilty of these charges.

Cool, I hope the victim and his family gets an enormous payout.

I'm sure they will as the girl's family are probably billionaires.

The driver's attorney is doing her a grave disservice for trying to pin this on the driver she rear ended. If he (or she) tries that nonsense with a jury she will get hammered in ways unknown to mankind.

I also think she will be hard pressed to avoid jail. maybe 2 years or so.
