As of 8:50AM ET, not a single report says anything about the attacker other than he was male and it was domestic terrorism. No race, no religion, no motivation. Anyone speculating is doing just that: speculating.

I am bout 5 miles away- moms looking for their children- it is a gay club but all party- not only gays go party in the clubs--- one girlfriend got away and can't find her boyfriend- the mom just balling her eyes out - ORMC hospital taking them all in a room now to see who is related to who- The dead are 20 inside the club- there were trucks taking injured to the hospital which is 2 blocks away. Others just dragging folks to get help, over 100 rounds can be heard firing- finally killing the stupid AXX joker who killed all these people..

Its a rough thing always hopeful in the morning for a great day, an afternoon with a looking forward and then these simply awful and more events. Since San Bernadino (I worked close by there) we have been getting serious about our goal to move out of an urban area. It's just to risky in my view.

Sure, it's always tragic and awful to wake up and read news like this. I suspect this was some act of terrorism against the gay community given that it came on pride weekend.
But it's important not to lose the forest for the trees. Crime rates are at their lowest point in 50 years. International violence and war is less frequent than any time in human history. Diseases are way less prevalent than in the past. Cars and planes are 5 and 100 times safer, respectively, than in 1970. Be glad you live today.
These are human beings who died and families are hurting- other fighting for their lives- they are asking for blood donations, if anyone is in the area. Prayers and positives thought always help, his impacts us all- we need to enjoy our lives in safety.

What you believe or feel SHOULD NOT GET YOU KILLED.
From a tactical point of view, this was absolutely a planned attack for maximum killing. Look at the time of day he began the attack. At such an hour many in the club would be intoxicated from drugs and or alcohol. Their reaction time would be greatly reduced thus giving him an opportunity to kill or injure many victims. This also happened during a very busy night (Saturday night/early Sunday morning).
I suggest the homosexual community be cautious and watchful prior to and during any gay pride events.
That's all I can find out about him. They report his parents are from Afghanistan. Most likely Muslim and under Sharia law, homosexuals are to be killed. Possible motive.
