News is reporting the shooter called 911 to pledge his loyalty to ISIS and that ISIS-associated media claim "credit" for the attack.

Now with it being Summer there will be more street fairs, festivals, parades and gatherings. This is very concerning as its only more opportunity for these killers to strike. Scary.

Yes, you are so right; they just want to make it about him being a muslim. Just because he happens to be a muslim doesn't mean he wants to kill anybody, even gays, even though muslims like to throw gays off of buildings, and if they don't die they then stone them to death. Just because he was interviewed by the FBI three times before for suspicions of terrorism doesn't mean anything. And his phone call telling the authorities he supports ISIS and aligning himself with the Boston bomber brothers I am sure is just all a coincidence. It could just as easily have been a Lutheran or Catholic that did this so let's not be so hard on the religion of peace.

They need to leave our gay people alone, this isn't going to fly.

This shooter was born in America, in 1986. Unusual - most mideastern terrorists in the West were recent immigrants. I think the 9/11 hijackers were not born in the States.

And that's the key issue that many people on here are turning a blind eye to. They're just pointing the finger at his being a Muslim. He was mentally unstable. And realistically, it's not hard to figure out that a person would have to be just plain crazy in order to commit a horrific act like that.

I disagree. Mental illness is not the only motivator for violence. Religious fervor has long been a common one as well. If you are saying that religious fervor of such a degree that it justifies murder amounts to mental illness in itself, that's not the accepted psychiatric definition.

Also, he worked as a security guard, which would not have been possible if he'd had any diagnosis of a severe mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia).

In April of 2016, an Imam in Orlando advocated the killing of gays.
