In fairness, that might not have made a difference. Even if he was aware of her peanut allergy, he may not have made the connection between the sandwich he ate earlier and possibly causing a reaction by kissing her later on.
It may or may not have. My point in saying what I did is that IMO, it was her responsibility to let him know about her allergy and the nature of it.

This. People don't think things they may have consumed, will gain me when they kiss me. I am also allergic to a chemical in cigarettes. It has been very hard to teach boyfriends that smoked, not to kiss me.

Really?
I would think that the average person, who is told specifically about the nature and extent of an allergy, would be able to grasp the concept quite easily.
Whether or not they respect it is an entirely different story.

People just don't think that kissing me after they smoked 10 minutes ago, will have a negative affect on me. Just as I say all the time that I have a coconut allergy, someone will wash their hands then touch me. Then I am retracing my steps to find out why I suddenly have a rash. Yup because no one checked the ingredients on their products before touching me. I cannot wait until the coconut fad goes away. The last 5 years have been awful.

I'd venture to say that if you've told them that it does, and they still do it, it's not about anything other than them not giving a crap.
Allergies are not a hard concept to understand. My prior partner had an allergy to shellfish. Guess what? I never "didn't think" about it, and was very careful when I was with him after eating shellfish.
It's not a "people" thing, it's about particular people who don't have respect for you and your allergy.

No people have no understanding that something they touched or consumed will linger on their body for whatever length of time.

Let's see. As I said, my prior partner had an allergy to shellfish. When he told me about it, and the nature of it, I had a perfect understanding that he could have a reaction to what I touched or ate hours beforehand.
I have quite a severe allergy to organic solvents such as acetone or toluene, napthalene (moth balls) and to a lesser extent, standard rubbing alcohol. I let my partner know this. Guess what? When he uses any of these things, he lets me know- to make sure that I don't get around them, and he knows to make sure that if they are used in the house, it is in a well-ventilated area. I also have a latex allergy. When I was dating, I let my partners know this. Not once did any of these people ever "forget" and use a condom that was not latex-free.
So, no, it's not people in general, it's certain people that when told about these sorts of things won't give a crap. That says more about the types of people that one surrounds themselves with, IMO.

If you're that allergic to cigarettes why would you date a smoker period?
