Default All of these animal stories suddenly are coming out of the woodwork

Ever since the incident with the gorilla, now we're seeing all these news reports about animals attacking children. The thing people fail to realize is these things have been happening a lot more than what's being reported. It's a shame.

Considering that this attack took place outside his home, I would think not.

When you keep building farther and farther out into the animal's territory, you will have attacks.

...and the best way to handle a mountain lion or any other deadly animal that is attacking someone is (drumroll please)
a gun. and not just any gun but a high powered multi shot semi automatic! Sorry I had to resort to using such ugly non PC words but when it comes to vicious animals (including humans) the best way to defend ones self and protect others is with a gun.

10 miles northwest of Aspen CO

An isolated house in the country - mountain lion country.

Not sure what the controversy is - unless you are trying to tie it to the $500/night Disney resort with groomed beach, and hotel organized beach activities at dusk, where the hotel felt no responsiblity to tell out of town guests that there be crocodiles on the grounds and in the water.

You're right. Bears and mountain lions attacked lots of Americans in the 1800's that we've never tracked. If we ever could know that number, it surely would be higher than it is today.
