I'm sure this is another way of setting up a poorly paid waiter just to get his 15 minutes of fame and possibly a money grab These stories happen so often I'm very skeptical of their truth. And even if it were true, the customer needs to put his XXL pants on and get on with his life. People say mean things all the time. You just ignore them.
Poorly paid waiter? Where's the money grab? Did the waiter think insulting a customer on his receipt was going to get him a good tip?
Nothing was "said". It was written on his receipt.
The receipt the customer was using to PAY HIS MONEY to the business owner.

Ironic coming from you, someone who belongs to a protected class of people who are discriminated against.
What would you think if your receipt had "FAT D*KE" on it? Is only half of that an insult?

American in general are obese. My wife, who is from Colombia, where you rarely see a fat person, notices this all the time. Maybe the patron should see this as a message from his guardian angel and lose weight instead of making a big deal about it. When I was working, we had this family who last name was Fatty, and the entire family of six was obese except for one son was as thin as a rail. It might have been a genetic thing. I always felt bad for them because I imagined how much teasing they must have gotten in school (kids can be so cruel).
"Fatso" was once a common nickname for overweight people. I recall seeing at least two restaurants named "Fatso's." Remember Ernestt Borgnine in From Here to Eternity? He was nowhere near as fat as the specimen being discussed here. People were once more honest.

Oh yes, the honest good old days, with ugly names for minorities, segregation, open discrimination, harassment of women because "boys will be boys", etc.
If anyone thinks "fatty" is not an insult, you need to have your sensitivity chip replaced. And how about treating a customer as a valued partner in the business. I mean without customers, you don't have a business. I don't know why it's even necessary put something describing a person on the ticket. "Table 12" is all that's necessary.
Wow. Some of the responses here. There is a lot of truth to the idea that being rude to overweight people is the last acceptable prejudice. Clearly people who are overweight should stay home (and out of the public eye) until losing enough weight to be acceptable. I'll start staying home now.
