This pretty much sums it up. It could be argued he broke pretty much all 4 of the rules of gun safety, when you do that bad things are gonna happen.

You can get away with killing people just because you didn't want to kill them and it was an accident.
They are dead because of their bad luck. They came in front of my bullet so I don't need to get any punishment.

That guy should go to jail for long time.
I hope you never make a mistake that results in someone being injured or killed.
We'll have to agree to disagree.

NO ONE is happy that a child is dead. But how many children have to die before we're allowed to have the conversation without being labeled heartless?

The father screwed up and should face charges. Gun safety always comes first -something I learned as a kid, with a few good slaps around the head.

I may make mistake but I don't expect to just walk without consequences.
2nd degree murder is what needs in this case.
You killed someone but wasn't planned.
It was not the gun that fired automatically and killed the kid.
The guy pulled the trigger.
It doesn't matter that it was his son so he must be hurting so he shouldn't be punished.
What if it were someone else in the gun range?

This does not even come close to 2nd degree murder according to the laws of Florida.

It was an accident and it happens everyday with others things that don't involve guns (cars for example). The intent was not there, thus it was an accident.

Agree about a being a moron
Never have your finger on the trigger or inside the guard, unless you intend to shoot.

Yes, but other things are not weapons. They are needed for day to day work.
Guns are specifically made to kill.
In any case, this is exactly the problem with gun.
You can do willy-nilly with guns and if something bad happens, Oh well, it was an accident.
No accountability at all.
No wonder everyone wants a gun.

You go over a sidewalk and kill a guy with your vehicle, you'll get vehicular manslaughter charge.
You screw up and shoot your son in a gun range, it's accident and you just shed few tears. Great!
